Superintendent Olson: February Community Communication

Crookston Public Schools has had many things to celebrate this year as we continue to work to support our students and families. Highland Elementary School was named a “Best Elementary School” ranking in the top 30% of Elementary Schools in MN. Crookston High School Teacher Andrea Adrian was selected as a candidate for MN Teacher of the Year. Crookston High School One Act play took first place in section competition. Crookston High School Leo club was recognized with the excellence award. George French and Emma Osborn received the Triple ‘A’ Award. The Girls Basketball and Hockey teams are having a great season and I could go on and on. We have so many things to celebrate!

Crookston FFA teams compete at Region I

Crookston High School FFA teams recently competed at the Region I competition and the Nursery/Landscape team is advancing to the Minnesota State FFA Convention in April. Team member Jocelyn placed sixth individually.

Catholic Daughters present awards to participants in education contest

The Catholic Daughters of America Court members which include Teresa Cymbaluk, Margee Keller and Elaine Sylvester recently presented awards to participants of the annual Catholic Daughters Education Contest. The 4th, 5th and 6th grades of Cathedral School all participated.

NORTHWEST REGIONAL CORRECTIONS CENTER ARREST REPORT

Dean Allen Finke, 50, Thief River Falls, was arrested February 7 by the East Grand Forks Police Department for third-degree drug possession. He was released on his own personal recognizance.

Crookston Library to Host Sip & Paint Event for Adults on February 23

Crookston Public Library will host a free Sip & Paint event February 23 at 6 p.m. with librarian Jane Berg. Adults are invited to learn how to paint their own masterpiece while enjoying wine provided by Irishman's Shanty. This event is offered free-of-charge to those ages 21 and older.

Crookston Library’s Books & Brews Book Club to Meet February 22

Crookston Public Library will host a meeting of the Books & Brews Book Club on Tuesday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar & Grill. The group will read and discuss their favorite short stories; participants are encouraged to bring a short story to share with the group.
