The Crookston Pirate youth wrestling program sent nine wrestlers to Bemidji on Sunday, February 13. Nearly half of the wrestlers finished first, including Levi Kresl, Eli Boll, Jacob Kresl and Deeken Solheim.

Wrestling advances to section semifinal with 54-30 victory

The Crookston Pirates wrestling team defeated Mahnomen-Waubun 54-30 to advance to the Section semifinal on Friday in Fertile. The two teams scored the maximum number of points, as each match was decided by either a pin or forfeit.

Pirates bounce back with complete-team win over Pelican Rapids

The Crookston Pirates girls’ basketball team bounced back from Saturday’s loss to Perham with a 68-40 win over Pelican Rapids. “It goes without saying, but everyone was disappointed in how Saturday turned out,” head coach Darin Zimmerman said.

The Crookston Fire Department wants to remind all building owners, property managers, and all home owners to keep exit doors and fire escapes clear of ice and snow accumulations this winter. As the winter weather is here, we are reminding everyone to be aware of the conditions and the problems snow and ice can cause, this requires greater vigilance to ensure that these critical secondary paths are available for escape or rescue in an emergency.
