CHS Knowledge Bowl gets 4th, 14th, 18th place while in their pajamas

Crookston High School Knowledge Bowl teams competed against 30 other teams during Snow Fest Week and ended with 4th, 14th, and 18th places all while wearing their Snow Fest pajama day outfits. Crookston Gold got 4th and included Ainsley Boucher, Ava Lopez, Thor Harbott, Nathan Kelly, and Xander Kuchan. Crookston Blue got 14th and included Zara Baig, Tatum Lubinski, David Threatt, and Nathan Johanneck. Crookston Public Schools Early Childhood Screening March 7 and 8

Crookston Public Schools will host early childhood screening March 7 and 8 at Washington Elementary School (724 University Avenue) for children who are three-years-old by January 1, 2022 or four and five-year-olds who have not been screened. Early childhood screening is free and a simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning.

UMN Crookston winter volleyball camps February 27 and March 27

The University of Minnesota Crookston will be hosting two winter volleyball camps February 27 and March 27 for girls and boys grades 12 and under. Golden Eagles Head Coach Sarah Morgan, Assistant Coach Nick Meseck and the Golden Eagles volleyball players will be on-hand to teach fundamentals. All skill levels are welcome.

Cathedral students hosted food drive during Catholic Schools Week

CROOKSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCIDENT REPORTS

An accident was reported February 16 at 11:35 a.m. at Lowell Street and Central Avenue when a 2007 International truck, driven by William Wahouske of Crookston, and a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Mitchell Coauette of Crookston, collided. There were no injuries and an unknown amount of damages. No citations were given.

Disabled American Veteran Crookston presented with 75-year plaque

Disabled American Veteran Crookston Chapter 14 was recently presented with a 75-year charter plaque from DAV National. Washington Elementary presents ‘Feed the Bear’ proceeds to United Way

During the beginning of February, students at Washington Elementary School collected pennies, quarters, dimes and nickels to "Feed the Bear" in support of The United Way of Crookston. Preschool and kindergarten students were welcome to drop their coins into the bear-shaped containers each day throughout the two week period.

Crookston Schools announce spring, summer, fall drivers education

Crookston Public Schools has announced dates for spring, summer and fall 2022 drivers education for students 15 years of age or older with spring classes starting in March. Spring drivers ed will have two sessions: March 7-March 26 and March 28-April 22 with registration due March 4. Summer drivers ed will have two sessions with the same dates of May 31-June 15 with registration due May 24. Fall drivers ed will have one session July 14-29 with registration due July 8.

Pirates defeat Green Wave to advance to section final

The Crookston Pirates girls’ hockey team defeated East Grand Forks (EGF) 4-1 to advance to the Section Final against Warroad on Thursday, February 17. The team came together for their seniors and rode the energy of the crowd that packed the Civic Center.
