It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

This accolade honors the Jovaags for their land stewardship and ongoing commitment to the principles of regenerative agriculture.

City of Climax Celebrates New Water Supply

Leaders from the City of Climax, Polk County, and East Central Regional Water District came together on Monday to celebrate the arrival of a new water supply. Construction of the East Central Regional Water District Service to Climax pipeline project wrapped up in late November and water began flowing to Climax.

The Golden Eagles have gotten a breakout season from a pair of sophomores. Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) and Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) have been outstanding. It was a five-point weekend for Syrup, who scored five goals in the two games, including his third hat-trick of the season and second in as many weeks. Syrup has five games with three or more points in 2022-23. Syrup has catapulted himself into the top-20 in points. He is currently 20th in the nation with 33 points scored and 16th with 17 goals. Fuller is tied for second with 22 points and scored four points on the weekend, including three points on Saturday. Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) also has 22 points on the season and is second with 15 assists. Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.), Zach Larson (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) are each averaging a point per game on the season.

Minnesota board: Moorhead-made THC gummies are too potent

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Board of Pharmacy on Monday sued a Moorhead-based manufacturer of THClaced gummies, saying the company's candies contain far stronger doses of the chemical that gives marijuana its high than state law allows.
