DPS: Law enforcement agencies cite more than 1,700 unbelted motorists during ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign

Officers, deputies and troopers reported 1,798 seat belt citations and 69 child restraint citations during the twoweek seat belt campaign, which included extra patrols and awareness efforts. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety coordinates the enforcement, education and awareness campaign with funding provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Altru and Universal Health Services sign letter of intent to expand inpatient behavioral health

Altru Health System and Universal Health Services (NYSE: UHS) have signed a letter of intent to work together in expanding inpatient behavioral health services. The two entities are exploring opportunities for an inpatient behavioral health facility in Grand Forks. The goal for this facility would be to increase the bed capacity that is currently available at Altru and accommodate both adult and pediatric patients.

DNR: Take the pledge to prevent aquatic invasive species spread

Heading into the summer recreation season, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is rolling out a new online pledge to help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Anyone 18 or older can go to the new Pledge to Protect Minnesota Waters page of the DNR website (mndnr.gov/AISPledge) to take the pledge and upload a photo, if desired.

Crookston Chamber co-host of Midwest Ag Summit June 28

The Crookston Chamber and other regional Chambers of Commerce are set to host the Midwest Agriculture Summit event on June 28 in Fargo. This Summit will review the current and future state of agriculture.

Western Governors University partners with Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA) to offer scholarships

In an effort to empower residents in rural areas of Minnesota to go back to school and further their education, Western Governors University (WGU) recently announced it has partnered with the Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA) to provide $50,000 in scholarships to Minnesotans who are served by an electric cooperative and are interested in pursuing a degree from the fully online, nonprofit university. The “Power Your Future” Scholarship is open to new students in rural areas of Minnesota who are employees of, member-owners of, or live in a household served by one of the 50 electric coops that power rural Minnesota.

CHS to build state-of-the-art grain facility in Erskine

CHS will begin construction this summer on a new state-of-the-art grain facility with 1.25 million bushels of additional storage capacity in Erskine. The facility is slated to be operational in the fall of 2023 and will help CHS expand operational capabilities and increase efficiency across its footprint.
