It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

U of M Crookston Horticulture program to further develop Allen & Freda Pedersen Garden

The University of Minnesota Crookston’s Agriculture and Natural Resource department, along with the Horticulture program, are in the process of securing funding to further develop the Allen & Freda Pedersen Community Garden owned by the City of Crookston adjacent to campus.

Golden Eagle Softball Drops a Pair to Southwest Minnesota State

Sioux Center, Iowa – It was day two at the ASB Sports Complex for the Golden Eagles in Sioux Center, Iowa, as the Golden Eagles took on Southwest Minnesota State to continue NSIC play on Monday afternoon.Southwest Minnesota State scored three unanswered runs to knock off the Golden Eagles in game one.Game two would see a lot more offense.

American Crystal Sugar makes donation

American Crystal Sugar is proud to award the Crookston Industrial Technology Department a check for $4,000 to help with the creating more welding and grinding space in the welding lab including the purchase of a TIG welder with AC current especially for Aluminum.Travis Oliver who is an instructor for the Industrial Technology department at the Crookston High School is looking to improve the safety and expand the availability of welding equipment within his class.
