The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s basketball team split results this weekend against Wayne State and Augustana, going 3-2 in their last five games. “It took us a while to figure out our chemistry,” head coach Dan Weisse said.

Dry January

So, January is many things, but I think the word most people use to describe it is “long”. Yes, technically it’s tied for the longest month of the year with others but I’d like to see any other month look hard and long into the cold, grey eyes of January and see who blinks first.

Crookston Area Chamber elects new officers, selects new board members

The Crookston Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has elected new officers and welcomes three new board members for 2022. Carrie Bergquist (River- View Health) has been selected as Chair, Ryan Wall (American Crystal Sugar) has been selected as Vice Chair, and Dana Jonsson (First Community Credit Union) has been selected as Treasurer. Lance Norman (River- View Health) moves into the immediate Past Chair position for 2022.

Crookston Library to host Spanish Storytimes beginning February 1

The Crookston Public Library will host its first Spanish Storytime on February 1 at 6 p.m. at the library. Spanish Storytime is a new monthly event offering non-Spanish speaking children and their caregivers the opportunity to gain exposure to a new language and a space for Spanish-speaking children to have an early literacy experience in language they speak at home.

Highway 2 rollover sends Crookston woman to hospital

A Crookston woman was transported to the hospital after a rollover on Highway 2 near East Grand Forks on January 27. Kristian Danielle Renee Ternes, 25, was traveling east bound on Highway 2 in a 2004 Mercury Sable when her vehicle entered the median near mile marker 2 and rolled.
