Moderate damage to vehicles in February 4 accident

An accident was reported on February 4 at approximately 2:44 p.m. at the 100 block of West Robert Street when one vehicle was rear-ended by another. A 2007 Lincoln, driven by Rosalia Gutierrez Armey of Crookston, was rear-ended by a 2003 GMC Yukon, driven by Henry Cordero Jr. of Crookston, Crookston police found at the scene.

UMN Crookston ‘Two by Two’ musical performances February 10-12

The University of Minnesota Crookston Music Theater Department is presenting the Broadway musical comedy “Two By Two” February 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium on the UMC campus. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and UMC students admitted free of charge with ID.

City Administrator Amy Finch named Atchison City Manager

City Administrator Amy Finch has been named the new city manager for the City of Atchison, Kansas after their City Commission approved her oneyear contract at a February 7 meeting. Crookston Mayor Dale Stainbrook told the Times that he received Finch's letter of resignation on Tuesday, February 8 and she was required to give a 45-day notice which means her last day will be approximately March 25.

National Guard soldiers returning Feb 9 from year-long deployment

Minnesota National Guard soldiers from the Crookston area will be returning February 9 after serving in the Middle East and in Afghanistan during the Kabul Airport chaos for a year, and the community is invited to gather downtown on Broadway to help welcome them home.

French and Osborn Receive Triple ‘A’ Awards at Banquet

George French and Emma Osborn received their awards at the Academics, Arts, and Athletics banquet on Wednesday February 2, 2022. As reported earlier in January, the purpose of the Triple ‘A’ award is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in fine arts.

Osborn’s hot hand gives Pirates two more wins

The Crookston Pirates girls’ basketball team picked up wins over East Grand Forks and Roseau behind the hot hand of senior Emma Osborn who scored 50 points in two days. Despite a slow start to Friday’s game against Roseau, the Pirates went on to defeat the Rams for the second time this week, 67-35.

CHS Knowledge Bowl places at recent meet

Crookston High School's Knowledge Bowl teams joined different towns from the region and competed against 35 teams to take 4th place, 6th place and 20th place. "It (today) was a hard competition at Knowledge Bowl because we had a bunch of different towns join us that typically compete in Crookston or Bemidji," explained Coach Katelyn Stegman.
