Paws and Pals 4-H Club participate in MN Zoo STEM Design Challenge

The Crookston Paws and Pals 4-H Club recently received 3rd place for Exhibit Design in the MN Zoo's ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge. The ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge offers students in grades 3-12 a chance to develop a solution to a real problem faced by zookeepers and staff at the Minnesota Zoo. This year, students were challenged to apply their science and math knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills to engineer an innovative enrichment or exhibit design solution for the Minnesota Zoo’s pack of gray wolves.

Journey drummer Smith joins MSUM for event March 31

Steve Smith, former drummer with Journey and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, will join the Minnesota State University Moorhead Jazz, Commercial and Faculty Jazz Combo Ensembles for a night of music Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre.

“Saint” Patrick’s Day

Sometimes people ask me how I stay ahead of the news. Well, I have many trusted sources but I’ve been reading one publication in particular for longer than all the others. The periodical both informs and entertains. Its prose is simple and clear, but not without style. Their news stories cut to the chase. There is a focus on the natural world. And their puzzles keep me razor sharp. That’s why I still read Highlights magazine.

Do I need a horn?

Question: The horn of my vehicle no longer works. Do I need to have one? Answer: Yes, every motor vehicle when operated upon a highway must be equipped with a horn in good working order and capable of emitting sound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not less than 200 feet.
