League of Minnesota Cities: Over 90 city councils oppose limits to decision-making on local housing

More than 90 city councils have adopted a resolution drafted by the League of Minnesota Cities supporting the authority of councils and city staffs to make housing and land use decisions that are best for their own communities. The resolution was prompted by recent state legislative proposals, backed by housing industry groups, that would limit planned use developments and zoning decision-making at the local level.

University of Minnesota Twin Cities Fall Dean’s List recipients announced

Four CHS Speech students earn awards in Blackduck

Crookston High School's Speech team competed over the weekend in Blackduck and four students earned awards. In the category of Humorous Interpretation, George French took 1st place, Zara Baig took 3rd place, and Shayla Azure won a red ribbon. In the category of Dramatic Interpretation, Emily Balboa took 3rd place.

Minnesota Severe Weather Awareness Week April 4-8, 2022

The week of April 4-8, 2022 is designated Minnesota Severe Weather Awareness Week. Severe Weather Awareness Week is a public education campaign promoted by the National Weather Service, Minnesota Department of Public Safety and local Emergency Management Agencies. Each day of the week features a different weather hazard, and two statewide tornado drills will be conducted on Thursday, April 7th.

Easter Egg Scramble and Craft/Vendor Fair April 16 at CSC

The Easter Egg Scramble and Craft & Vendor Fair is making its return to the Crookston Sports Center on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kids ages 0-10 can "scramble" for candy-filled Easter eggs at 11 a.m. plus they have the chance at winning prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

Cookbook authors Zoë François and Beth Dooley to present virtually on April 5

Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) will host a virtual panel featuring Minnesota cookbook authors Zoë François (Zoë Bakes Cakes, Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day) and Beth Dooley (In Winter’s Kitchen, The Northern Heartland Kitchen). Hear how these authors’ work has been influenced by the local produce, flavors, traditions, and the seasons of the upper Midwest. This virtual event will be moderated by Food of the North co-founder and author of Midwest Mediterranean Megan Myrdal. Admission is free thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
