Ukraine teen looking to come to Crookston

It all started with the 1989 4-H cultural exchange program when Connie Hannesson's son, Darby Miller, went to Russia. There, Darby met Eugene Vorobiev and shortly after Eugene became part of their Crookston family. Fast forward to March 25, 2022 when Connie received a call from her "Russian son" Eugene asking if she would take in a 14-year-old Ukraine boy so he could continue his education in a safe, peaceful location. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a Christian, "no" was never an option. Now, Connie is looking for a host family in Crookston for the 2022-2023 school year with Connie serving as the home base or anchor.

Minnesota trial set for Florida man in human smuggling case equipment cameras

(AP) — A Florida man will stand trial in Minnesota this summer on human pets smuggling charges following his January arrest after authorities just across the Canadian instruments border found four migrants who had frozen to death during a blizzard, according to federal court documents filed Wednesday.

Kallock Named ACHA Division II All-Central Region Third Team

University of Minnesota Crookston hockey defenseman Casey Kallock (Sr., Alvarado, Minn.) was named ACHA Division II Central Region All-Athletic Third Team as announced by the ACHA. Kallock was selected to the ACHA Division II All-American Second Team during the 2020-21 season.
