Polk County: Fire in rural Climax caused by lightning strike

Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible fire on May 29 at approximately 4:55 a.m. at 38026 330th Ave SW in Climax. As a deputy arrived on scene they located multiple fuel tanks near an outbuilding on the property and one of the fuel tanks was on fire.

Builder’s Club receives donation from breakfast fundraiser proceeds

Crookston Public Library to host summer concert June 16

Crookston Public Library invites the community to enjoy a free outdoor concert at the library on Thursday, June 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. The outdoor concert will feature Uptown! - a regional band that promises a fun time for everyone with a repertoire of country, rock, and pop hits from the 1950’s through today, said Lake Agassiz Regional Library in a media release.

NWMAC ‘Nature’s Offerings’ art exhibit open through August 1

Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) has announced their exhibit, "Nature’s Offerings: An Art Exhibit Featuring Works by Debbie Dahl Aune and Other NW Minnesota Artists" which will be open through August 1 at the NWMAC Gallery at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.

MN VA: ‘Support Our Troops’ License Plate Fund Awards Grants

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) recently announced the recipients of the competitive Support Our Troops (SOT) license plate fund grant program. - Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe: $93,767 - LegalCorps: $70,000 - American Heroes Outdoors: $60,000 - Prairie Five Community Action Council, Inc.: $80,000 - Mandatory Fun Outdoors: $30,000 - Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa: $75,000 The MDVA SOT grant program offers a competitive grant process which allows organizations to apply for funding.

City makes proclamations for National Skilled Nursing Care Week and Community Action Month

The City of Crookston recently proclaimed May 2022 as Community Action Month and recognized Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc. for their dedication. They noted in the proclamation that Tri-Valley "served over 2,000 families and over 9,000 individuals including over 3,500 children and seniors in 2021 while utilizing over 650 volunteers." Planned Parenthood to step in if North Dakota clinic closes

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Planned Parenthood said Monday it will offer abortion services at its clinic in Moorhead, Minnesota, if North Dakota's only abortion clinic does not quickly relocate from Fargo should the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade.
