Layne Whaley Named to Hampton Inn All-Tournament Team

KENOSHA, Wis. – University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball player Layne Whaley (So., Lib., Ashland, Neb.) was named to the Hampton Inn All-Tournament Team following four matches at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis., last weekend.

Trudeau Scores Twice for Boys’ Soccer in Loss to Detroit Lakes

The Crookston Pirate boys’ soccer team lost its fourth game of the year 2-7 to the Detroit Lake Lakers on Tuesday, September 6. The Lakers scored four goals in the first half, three of which came from Avery Young for a hat trick. Young scored one of Detroit Lakes’ penalty kicks, the other came from Noah Meyer.

Pirates Fall to Prowlers 2-5

The Crookston Pirate girls’ tennis team continues to search for its perfect lineup, as they fell to Thief River Falls 2-5 on Tuesday, September 6. The Pirates got a win in both singles and doubles. Isabelle Smith won her No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-4, while Addie Fee and Emma Gunderson got it done at No. 2 doubles 6-2, 6-4.

Eagles Best Pirates in Three Sets

Set One The Crookston Pirate volleyball team played from behind in every set en route to a three-set loss to Red Lake Falls on Tuesday, September 6. The Eagles scored 12 of the first 14 points to take a convincing lead.

Swimming Co-op Records First Win

The Fosston-Bagley- Crookston Seals swimming team defeated Warroad 58-35 for their first win as a new co-op on Tuesday, September 6. Chloe Boll had a stellar night, as she finished first in all four of her events.

Bob Kresl Recognized for Service at 10U Game

Earlier this summer, Thompson's 10U team thanked Bob Kresl for his service in the Korean War. Crookston and Thompson met for a scheduled doubleheader when the Thompson coached noticed Kresl in the stands with his veteran's camp on.

Minnesota State Patrol Accident Report

Submitted On Friday, September 2 at approximately 11:37 pm, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to SB HWY 2 near South Road, Lowell Township in Polk County for a crash. A Nissan, driven by 35-year-old Antionette Anderson of Grand Forks, traveled east bound on HWY 2 near South Road when it left the roadway and hit a tree.

JC Larson Receives Purple Ribbon at State Fair

Submitted JC Larson of Euclid received a purple ribbon at the 2022 Minnesota State fair 4-H dairy show. Her cow was named reserve champion milking shorthorn, grand champion production cow and reserve champion for the net merit genetic award.
