Student of the Week: Hadley Dans Exemplifies Leadership and Kindness

CROOKSTON, Minn. — This week’s Student Spotlight highlights Hadley Dans, a standout student at Our Savior’s School who has been recognized for her exceptional leadership, kindness, and thoughtfulness.

Hadley, a sixth-grader, is the daughter of Jim and Kim Dans and the sister of Noah, Whitney, Sophia, and Jameson. She was recently honored with the December PRO (People Respecting Others) Award for her commitment to helping others and setting an example for her classmates.

“Hadley Dans was nominated for our December PRO Award because she is a kind friend, a helpful leader, and a considerate classmate,” said Stacey, her 5th and 6th-grade teacher. “She has consistently displayed fantastic leadership skills, particularly this past month when she helped younger students during programs and stepped in to assist wherever action was needed. Hadley exemplifies what PRO is all about; we are very proud of her.”

In an interview, Hadley shared her thoughts on life, offering advice for students and adults alike.

For younger students starting sixth grade, Hadley acknowledged that the transition might initially seem daunting. “You might be nervous at first, but after a while, you will make ‘forever friends,’” she said, reflecting on her own experiences.

She also offered wisdom for those taking on bigger challenges, like starting college. “If you are struggling, ask for help. If you pray to God, you will see that everything will be okay,” she said, emphasizing the importance of both community and faith.

When asked about the advice adults might need to hear, Hadley spoke candidly about the challenges of navigating an uncertain world. “The world is scary. If you are not sure what to do, pray about it, and God will lead you to the right place. He has a plan for you. Don’t forget that He has a plan for you,” she said.

Hadley’s thoughtful words reflect the maturity and strength of character that earned her this week’s spotlight. Her teacher noted that she leads by example, making her a role model for her peers and a trusted helper to younger students at her school.

Our Savior’s School has a long tradition of recognizing students who embody the values of respect, kindness, and leadership through the PRO Award, and Hadley’s nomination stands out as a testament to her dedication to these principles.

For those who know Hadley, her recognition is no surprise. “She’s just one of those students who makes everyone around her feel supported and appreciated,” said a fellow classmate.

The Student Spotlight aims to celebrate students like Hadley who go above and beyond to make a difference in their schools and communities.
