COVID-19 Pandemic - Surreal summer for Crookston youth

The surreal summer for Crookston youth is past its midway point, as students wait to find out if they’re going to return to the classroom in the fall, continue distance learning from last spring, or be educated via some sort of hybrid model.

With several summer youth activities cancelled, scaled back or modified, local kids, at least this group, Carter Trudeau, Dalen Korynta, Libby Brown, Cassie Solheim and Kadin Edwards, hanging out at M & H Tuesday, seem content to just chill when they get the chance.

As for summer employment, a couple of them said they’ve worked at area farms, and Trudeau did detailing work at Brost Chevrolet for a while earlier this summer.

Asked if they’re concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic or getting sick themselves, they reported they’re not too worried, and that they hang out together in their group a lot. Trudeau is playing summer hockey, but said he’s frustrated by a lot of the social distancing rules in place due to the pandemic.
