Greenway Takeover Festival outdoor music festival returns in downtown Grand Forks
HB Sound & Light announces the fourth annual Greenway Takeover Festival (GTF) to be held September 10 - 13, 2020. This multi-day music festival will take place on the Greenway just north of the Sorlie Memorial Bridge in downtown Grand Forks. Each day you can expect local, regional, and headlining music, a food truck alley, picnic area, beer sales, games for kids and adults, and most of all, a celebration of the awesome community spirit that makes Greater Grand Forks a great place to live and visit! Bring a chair or a blanket and join us each day.
• Thursday, September 10: The first day of this year’s Greenway Takeover Festival will bring food, fun, and live music from Philadelphia based alternative hip-hop band, G. Love & Special Sauce. The newest G. Love album, The Juice, is an empowering set that he describes as a rallying cry for empathy and unity. Thursday night’s headliner is sure to be a great kickoff to this year’s Greenway Takeover Festival.
• Friday, September 11: Duluth native, Trampled by Turtles, will close out the evening. Their fifth album Palomino was top 10 on US bluegrass charts for 52 weeks straight. This bluegrass/folk-rock band has been charming audiences since 2003 and is the Friday night closer you won't want to miss! Fridays’ fun will pause for a moment of silence in remembrance of September 11th 2001.
• Saturday, September 12 : Saturday evening closes out with Soul Asylum, a lively alternative rock band. Saturday’s headliner is a Grammy winning group originating in Minneapolis with over 10 full-length studio albums. Led by vocalist Dave Pirner, Soul Asylum has a vast collection of platinum and Grammy winning hits such as “Runaway Train” as well as a brand new album, Hurry Up and Wait, to draw from when they rock the last night of the Greenway Takeover Festival.
• Sunday, September 13: Details coming soon.
