Dani Boyle shot a 92 and 97 in the final competition of the season.
Through one day of the Class AA State Golf Tournament in Jordan, Crookston's lone representative, Dani Boyle (Jr.), sat in a tie for 45th place after shooting a 92. Boyle carded a 97 the following day and finished her junior campaign placing 52nd in a field of 88.
"It's definitely a different environment," Pirates Head Coach Jeff Perreault said. "There are a lot of people watching. As you put your tee in the ground on hole one, it's by far the most difficult shot on the day. She did put it in the water off of one but made a great recovery for a bogey."
Boyle also shot a 92 on Day 1 of the Section 8AA Tournament before recording an 84 on the final day to qualify for state.
After the first 18 holes at state, Perreault said Boyle, in her first state tournament, hoped for a similar result as the Section Tournament on Day 2 of the State Tournament
"She wants to put a score up in the 80s," Perreault said. "It's a tall order for a couple reasons: you've played this course twice, the walk is long, it's a mentally and physically draining course. If she can go put something in the 80s, we're going to be pretty pleased."
Boyle came back the next day and completed the 18 holes with a score of 97 to finish 45 over par across 36 holes.
Sophia Yoemans (Sr.) of Red Wing took home the state championship at six under par.
