NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golf team placed ninth at the fifth annual Minot Junior Golf Association (MJCA) Collegiate at Aliante Golf Club in North Las Vegas, Nev. For Winona State University, CHS 2016 grad, Isaac Westlake, placed second for the Warriors shooting 69, 78, and 71 for 218.
The Golden Eagles shot rounds of 352, 335, and 332, as they showed improvement throughout the weekend in North Las Vegas, Nev.
Minnesota Crookston was led by Connor Humble (So., Rosemount, Minn.), who shot rounds of 80, and 82 in the first two rounds. Humble shot his best round of the tournament with a 78 in round three, as he finished tied for 30th. Ben Trostad (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) turned in rounds of 91, 82, and 80 over the three rounds. Ben Koisti (Sr., Lake Norden, S.D.) carded rounds of 93, 82, and 84 over the tournament. Ethan Magsam (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) turned in rounds of 90, 89, and 90 on the tourney, while Ethan Johnson (Sr., Roseau, Minn.) carded rounds of 91, 89, and 90 over the three rounds.
Logan Skalka of Westminster University picked up the individual championship with rounds of 78, 71, and 68 over the three rounds. Isaac Westlake of Winona State University finished one stroke behind Skalka in second place. Westminster University won the team title with a 901. They bested Winona State by four strokes.
The Golden Eagles continue their trip to Nevada as they take part in the Winona State Men’s Golf Invitational March 12-13 in Las Vegas, Nev.
