Crookston ends with a record of 8-19, 5-13 Section 8AA.

The No. 13 Crookston Pirates hung with No. 4 East Grand Forks in the third matchup of the season but still could not replicate the Green Wave’s offense as East Side defeated the Pirates 86-74 in the first round of the Section 8AA Tournament.

Julian Benson (Jr. G) led the way for EGF with 23 points followed by Sam Votava (So. G) at 20.

In his final game as a Pirate, Nick Garmen (Sr. F) put up 20, and fellow senior, Jaden Lubarski (Sr. F) scored 10. Caden Osborn (Jr. C) reached 19, Walker Winjum (Jr. G) provided 15, Jack Garmen (Fr. F) contributed eight and Carter Bruggeman (So. F) produced two.

Although Crookston (8-19, 5-13 Section 8AA) outscored the Green Wave (22-4, 13-3 Section 8AA) by five in the second half, it was not enough to overcome a 17-point deficit at halftime.

East Grand Forks advances to the Section 8AA Quarterfinals where they will face No. 4 Barnesville on Saturday, March 9 at Concordia College in Moorhead.
