UMC opens their exhibition slate Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium against the University of Northwestern (Minn.).

    The University of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball team officially opened up the 2018-19 season with their first full practice during the afternoon of Mon., Oct. 15. The Golden Eagles are entering their fifth season under Head Coach Dan Weisse and are looking to build on their best season in program history as they notched 10 wins during the 2017-18 campaign. The Golden Eagles return D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention pick Harrison Cleary (Jr., G, Oak Creek, Wis.), along with NSIC Defensive Player of the Year Gable Smith (R-Sr., F/C, Lodi, Wis.). Cleary and Smith anchor perhaps the strongest core the Golden Eagles have returned in recent times. In addition, Minnesota Crookston returns Ben Juhl (So., G, Clive, Iowa), Chase Knickerbocker (Sr., G/F, Annandale, Minn.), Josh Collins(Sr., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) and Darin Viken (Sr., G., Fosston, Minn.) who all saw significant time as starters in 2017-18. Javier Nicolau(Jr., F/C, Castellon, Spain) and Aaron Hollcraft (Sr., G, Crookston, Minn.) also bring experience for the Golden Eagles and will battle for time.

    The Golden Eagles also have four redshirts added to the fray in Malcolm Cohen (R-Jr., G/F, Detroit, Mich.), Brian Sitzmann (R-Fr., G, Savage, Minn.), Chase Johnson (R-So., F/C, La Crosse, Wis.), and Joey Meyer (R-Fr., F/C, Shullsburg, Wis.). Johnson saw significant time in 2016-17 before suffering an injury that kept him out last season. In addition, newcomers Demarion Bariffe-Smith (Fr., G/F, Skokie, Ill.), Zach Westphal (Fr., G, West Fargo, N.D.), and Sergio Nanu (Fr., F/C, Kenosha, Wis.) will add their talents to the roster.

    Minnesota Crookston, in total, has 15 players entering the 2018-19 season. They open their exhibition slate Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium against the University of Northwestern (Minn.). The regular season will commence Nov. 10 at 12 p.m. versus Arkansas Tech University on a neutral court in St. Paul, Minn.
