SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golf team placed seventh at the Augustana Invite Mon., Oct. 1 at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Golden Eagles tallied a team score of 625 after carding scores of 315 and 310 for the tournament. Minnesota Crookston finished just 14 strokes behind Bemidji State University and Concordia University-St. Paul. The Golden Eagles bested Augustana University’s second team by 36 strokes.
Minnesota Crookston’s Ethan Magsam (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) had his best showing of his young career as he finished tied for 16th after shooting rounds of 78 and 75. Connor Humble (So., Rosemount, Minn.) has stayed consistent for the Golden Eagles as he carded a 78 and 76 to finish tied for 18th. Humble is averaging a 77.6 on the season.
Ben Koisti (Sr., Lake Norden, S.D.) finished the tournament with a 77 after carding an 80 on the first day. Ben Trostad (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) put up an 80 and 82 on the tournament, while Dylan Wenzel (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn.) carded a 79 and an 85. Ben Lord (Jr., Brunswick, Maine.) shot an 85 and 83 for the tournament.
St. Cloud State University won the tournament with a cumulative score of 598. They bested Augustana University by one stroke. Bemidji State’s Brandon Nelson was the individual medalist after carding a 67 and 68. He beat out St. Cloud State’s Troy Ryynanen and Regan Steen by 10 strokes.
The Golden Eagles conclude the fall season Oct. 8-9 at the Missouri Western University Central Region Invite in St. Joseph, Mo.
