BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston junior Reed Hjelle (1B, East Grand Forks, Minn.) earned his second NSIC Player of the Week nod as released Mon., April 24 by the conference office. Hjelle had a fantastic week at the plate for the Golden Eagles as he helped Minnesota Crookston to a split over Upper Iowa. He was also named NSIC Player of the Week March 12 after his performance during games in Florida. Hjelle’s performance in Florida also helped him to NCBWA Central Region Player of the Week honors in March.

    Hjelle hit .619 in four games for Minnesota Crookston. He tallied eight runs, three doubles, one triples, four home runs and six RBIs. In addition, Hjelle posted a 1.429 slugging percentage and a .652 on-base percentage for the Golden Eagles. In addition to reaching base eight times on hits, Hjelle walked three times. Hjelle leads the NSIC for hits, home runs, total bases, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. Hjelle is hitting a whopping .430 for the season with 29 runs, 15 doubles, four triples and eight home runs. He has 42 RBIs on the 2018 season.

    Jacob Blank of Augustana University was selected as NSIC Pitcher of the Week.
