Crookston runs away with solid victory.

Led by a solid defensive performance, the Crookston Pirates girls basketball team claimed their first victory of the season with a 66-14 win over the Warroad Warriors Friday at Crookston High School.

Eighth-grader Emma Borowicz finished with a game-high 14 points, while Kennedy Cwikla and Bailey Folkers dropped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Pirates improve to 1-1 on the year while Warroad drops to 0-5.

Crookston returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to host the East Grand Forks Green Wave at Crookston High School.
