It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

Rosemary Baatz

 Rosemary Baatz of Woodbury died on July 15, 2022, at Woodwinds Hospital, Woodbury. She was born on February 15, 1931, in Crookston to John and Edna Baatz.
 She was a graduate of Mount St. Benedict Academy, Crookston and The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
 Rosemary was a librarian for 3M and after retirement worked several years as a home health aide. She played classical piano and loved reading, hiking and travelling. She was a longtime volunteer with AARP, The Science Museum of Minnesota and The Maplewood Nature Center. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Woodbury.
 Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John, Jr. and Gerald and her sister, Dorothy Michaelson. She is survived by her brothers Donald of Fergus Falls and Robert of Green Valley, Ariz. and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
 A memorial service was held in Woodbury and burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Crookston. Arrangements were by The Cremation Society of Minnesota and Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home.
