MSUM’s College for Kids & Teens receives $5000 Lake Region Arts Council grant

Minnesota State University Moorhead’s College for Kids & Teens received a $5,000 grant from the Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC) to provide need-based scholarships to area youth who are interested in taking summer courses in the arts. College for Kids & Teens is a summer day camp program for kids ages 8 to 18.

The Excellence in Agriculture Award and Achievement Award provides the next generation of agriculture leaders opportunities to showcase their achievements while growing their skillsets and networks.

Gov. Walz proclaims June as Great Outdoors Month

Gov. Tim Walz is encouraging Minnesotans to get out in nature and enjoy the state’s outstanding outdoor opportunities by proclaiming June 2022 as Great Outdoors Month (mn.gov/governor/news/ proclamations.jsp). The proclamation cites the health and wellness benefits of spending time outdoors as one of the many reasons to encourage Minnesotans to get outside.

New Leadership at Benedictine Living Community Crookston

Lindsey Erdman has accepted the role of Administrator/Executive Director at Benedictine Living Community - Crookston. Lindsey was born and raised in Crookston and has a passion for the faith based mission of BLC-C. She has had family members who resided at BLC-C and is a long time employee who has held various roles throughout the facility. She started working at the Villa when she was a sophomore in high school in the laundry department, she has worked in the business office in the accounts payable role and is currently the Human Resources Director.

Kim Volker Named RiverView’s Employee of the Month for April

Kim Volker is a busy RN on RiverView's Inpatient Unit. She works with patients on the Medical/Surgical/ Pediatrics, Obstetrics (OB), and Intensive Care Units. She's credited with staying with her OB patients beyond her shift to see them through their delivery, doing a great job training other nurses, and adding spice to the team. For all of these reasons and more, Kim was recently named RiverView's Employee of the Month for April.

Libraries in Crookston and Fertile to Host Pint Size Polka Musical Programs for Children

Local libraries are inviting audiences of all ages to go under the sea with accordion player Mike Schneider in an ocean-themed polka-palooza! Polka enthusiasts will enjoy clapping and singing along to the music in this interactive program which will also include magic, comedy and trivia. These programs are geared toward children ages 6-11 and will last approximately 45 minutes.
