I totally agree with a recent letter the Editor by Paul Peltier of Fosston (March 15 Times):  “Senator Johnson Firmly wrong on vaccines.”

By calling into question the need for vaccinations, Senator Johnson’s choice in this matter shows disregard for the safety of the public and those people most vulnerable.

It is especially concerning since he serves on the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee.”…

Unvaccinated children in the U.S. are still dying needlessly.

In the 1980s I was a Public Health Nurse for Polk County when there was a measles outbreak. Prior to that while working in a Pediatric ICU one evening a fellow nurse cared for a beautiful toddler who died that night from meningitis. We have immunocompromised children in our community who cannot receive vaccines and are at a grave risk due to the unvaccinated.

As a nurse with over 35 years of experience I am baffled that Senator Johnson supports unfounded conspiracy theorists instead of scientific evidence.
