The funeral mass will be on Feb. 24 in Crookston

  Theresa Rose Swenson died peacefully at Riverview Hospital in Crookston MN, on February 19, 2018 surrounded by family.

    She was born in Terrebonne Township in Red Lake County, Minnesota on February 27, 1929 to parents Napoleon and Amanda Perreault (Paradis).   She was a member of Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Crookston for many years.

    She attended Beaugerleau Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Red Lake Falls High School in 1947.

    Theresa was united in marriage to Donald Arthur Swenson from Crookston on September 20, 1949 in Terrebonne, MN.

    She worked briefly at the Sweet Shop in Crookston but spent most of her time raising her family and caring for her grandchildren.

     She was a past president of the Eagle’s Auxiliary #873 in Crookston, MN, and was also a member of the VFW Auxillary.

    Theresa is survived by husband, Don Swenson of Crookston, MN: three children: Jeanne (Rodney) Meyer, Hillsboro, ND, Daniel (Bonnie) Swenson of Crookston, MN, Duane (Vickie) Swenson of Independence, MN; 9 Grandchildren: Matthew Meyer, Nathan Meyer, Amanda Meyer, Christopher Meyer, Joshua (Jill) Swenson, Andrew Swenson, Jeffrey Swenson, James Swenson and Thomas Swenson; great grandchildren Garrett Meyer, Claire Meyer and Sam Meyer. She is also survived by two sisters: Louise Oxley, Hurricane, West Virginia, Martha Harty, South Milwaukee, Wisconsin and two sisters-in-law Merlyn (Vern) Perreault of Red Lake Falls, MN and Virginia (Leo) Perreault of Morris, MN

    Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Michael Swenson, four brothers Harvey, David, Vern and Leo; two sisters, Sister Germaine Perreault and Lucy Gauthier.

    Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family at the cabin at Waskish, MN (Red Lake).  She spent hours in the boat fishing and enjoyed fresh walleye cooked over the camp fire.  She loved playing Bingo at various venues and could watch 12 cards at a time.  She was an avid bowler who spent years on various bowling leagues until she turned 80.

    The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN.
