Laurel Haake, age 66 of Fisher, MN passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Valley Memorial Homes, Transitional Care Unit in Grand Forks, ND with her family at her side.

 

Laurel Jean Haake was born August 15, 1949 in Crookston, MN the daughter of Ervin and Marian (Rutherford) Gunstinson. Laurel grew up in Fisher. She attended school where she graduated with the Fisher High School, Class of 1967. On January 28, 1967 she was united in marriage to Lynn Haake in Fisher Lutheran Church. She worked at Griffiths Department Store in Grand Forks, ND. She was the Parish Secretary for Fisher Lutheran Church for a number of years, and was also the City Clerk of Fisher for 20+ years. She was the Minnesota State President of City Clerks and Finance Offices and she was also Council President for Fisher Lutheran Church. She then began employment for Ralph Engelstad Arena and worked there for 14 years. Laurel sold real estate for Century 21 Red River Reality in Grand Forks and eventually bought the business. She was a First Responder for the City of Fisher. Laurel supported Lynn on the farm for many years. She was a member of the Fisher American Legion Auxiliary for 35 years. She was a member of the Crookston area Women’s Choir, and also the Gunstinson Trio accompanied by Bill and Carol Heimer.

 

She is survived by her loving husband Lynn of 49 years; three sons, Kyle Haake of Fisher, MN, Noel (Cheri) Hakke of Crookston, MN and Jeremy Haake of Fisher, MN; four grandchildren, Josh, Jarret, Danielle and Jayden along with two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Grant; sister, Paula (Duane) Isaacson of Fisher, MN and brother James (A. Mary) Gunstinson of El Cajon, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Marian Gunstinson and her brother Thomas.
