Fund established to resopnd to community needs in NW Minn. as a result of pandemic

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is now accepting grant applications for their Emergency Disaster Recovery Fund. This fund was established to respond to the needs of communities in Northwest Minnesota amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grant proposals up to $5,000 will be considered on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)3 nonprofits, tribal entities, and government agencies in the Foundation's 12-county service area.

The 12 counties are: Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau. This includes the two tribal nations of White Earth and Red Lake. There is no deadline to apply. Grants will be made in stages based on requests and available funding.

High-priority needs include, but are not limited to:

    * Organizations providing nutrition/food to those significantly impacted

    * Organizations providing supports for the low income, elderly, and vulnerable

    * Tribal governments and tribal nonprofits

    * Organizations providing supports for household needs such as heating, utilities, etc.

    * Organizations sheltering those experiencing homelessness for cleaning supplies and the isolation of the most vulnerable

The priorities were identified by the Foundation through a Community Needs Survey that was conducted, along with region-wide conversations with community partners. That survey and the initial results can be found on their website at www.nwmf.org/covid-19-updates-and-resources<http://www.nwmf.org/covid-19-updates-and-resources>.
