Crookston event will feature Launch Minnesota, created by the state legislature this year

    The second MNwest Entrepreneur Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the University of Minnesota Crookston will be the regional setting for introduction of “Launch Minnesota.”

    The initiative, created by the 2019 Minnesota Legislature, is designed to encourage collaboration across geographies and across business, education and government sectors to foster entrepreneurial thinking, startups and innovation applying new technologies addressing problems that need solving within named business sectors and beyond.  

    Regional business, education and government leaders are encouraged to attend. To register, visit The cost is $55 for adults, $35 for companies 0 to 3 years old, and $15 for students.

    Launch Minnesota Executive Director Neela Mollgaard and Financial Director Jeff Nelson, together with technology company founders who are developing services that can be leveraged in western Minnesota, will be welcomed by Entrepreneur Summit convener, Minnesota Innovates, a statewide non-profit.

    The Entrepreneur Summit will also include a “Celebration of Startups & Founders” recognizing all 0 to 5-year-old companies across the region. To be recognized, contact Lee Groeschl, EDA Center, UMN Crookston at

    Groeschl said this week that he expects around 80 people to attend.

    “It will be a good learning experience and a good networking experience, and an opportunity to see what’s happening within Crookston and outside Crookston,” he said.

    The MNwest Entrepreneur Summit serves a large region and encourages connection building across it. It also showcases approaches communities have used that encouraged development of entrepreneurial ecosystems beneficial to starters from high school to retirement.  It will include, as well, a setting for business owners to get guidance from service professionals about business operations and new obligations from: human resources, accounting, law, finance, facilities, marketing and sales.
