She's identified as Emily Ann Stevens, 28, of the Rice Lake area.
A Clearwater County woman was killed Thursday night, Sept. 12 when she was reportedly struck by a vehicle while laying in the roadway on 340th Street west of the Shooting Star Casino near Bagley.
The victim has been identified by the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office as Emily Ann Stevens, 28, of the Rice Lake area of Clearwater County.
According to the sheriff’s office, a call came in at 8:19 p.m. about a female walking along that stretch of road, partially in the traffic lane. A deputy responded and while enroute a second, similar call was received by the CCSO. When the deputy arrived in the area, he observed a vehicle driving slowly and then pull off to the side of the road. The deputy stopped to speak to the driver, who indicated they thought they’d just struck something in the road, possibly a deer. It was then discovered the vehicle had struck a person laying in the road.
Life-saving measures were performed on Stevens and she was transported by ambulance, but she later died from her injuries.
The investigation continues. Assisting the CCSO were police departments from White Earth, Bagley and Clearbrook/Gonvick, and Bagley Sanford Ambulance.
