CHS Ag Services, based out of Warren, Minnesota, has announced a $2,000 grant to the Northwestern Mental Health Center. This money will be used to help with a mental health and suicide prevention awareness campaign through the H.O.P.E. Coalition.
The H.O.P.E. Coalition is a group of community members including healthcare workers, Chamber of Commerce members, law enforcement, civic groups, faith-based groups and people with lived experience of suicide. This coalition is focused on Help, Outreach, Prevention and Education for suicide prevention.
“Mental health and suicide prevention are sensitive subjects that are often hard to talk about, especially in the agriculture community,” said Ryan Anderson, general manager, CHS Ag Services. “We know it is a stressful time for our farmer-owners, and we are proud to support the HOPE Coalition’s efforts to educate those in our rural communities about these topics.”
This donation was made possible through the CHS Seeds for Stewardship program, a competitive grant program that matches funds for projects in rural communities based on three core focus areas: safety and rural healthcare, ag leadership development and broad community engagement. In 2019, CHS retail locations have awarded more than $95,000 in matching funds through the program.
