Ann Longtin sent the Times a photo as sort of a “shout-out” to American Indian Education liaison Dave Emanuel.

Longtin says that every morning before school, Emanuel greets everyone in every vehicle that pulls up to drop off kids.

“Rain, snow, bitter cold, any weather, he is out there greeting and helping the families,” Longtin says, adding that Highland Principal Chris Trostad is often outside in the mornings, too.

“It says a lot to me as a parent to see them out there every day with smiles on their faces saying good morning, even on 20 below days,” Longtin adds.

Thursday, she said she brought Emanuel his favorite cup of coffee from Cofe bistro, crafted by barista Elise Erdmann.
