An arrest has been made in connection with an incident early Sunday, Feb. 17 in Fosston involving gun shots being fired.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that Roland Edward Vanderplaats, 71, was taken into custody Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Mahnomen.
Deputies from Polk and Mahnomen counties, along with members of the Pine to Prairie Violent Crime Enforcement team, apprehended Vanderplaats. He was taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston and is facing charges of terroristic threats and reckless discharge of a firearm.
A deputy on patrol in Fosston early last Sunday believed he heard the sound of two gun shots. Upon further investigation, two vehicles owned by employees of Essentia Health in Fosston and parked in the hospital parking lot were found to have bullet holes in them.
