A criminal charge of fifth degree assault is possible although no one has been arrested in connection with an assault reported at the Care and Share in Crookston on Sunday, Feb. 10.

Crookston Police Chief Paul Biermaier reports that officers responded to the Care and Share, located at 220 Third Street, on the report of an assault around 10:50 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Dana Andrew Decoteau, 52, of Crookston, who said he’d been assaulted by another resident, later identified as Dennis Mark Jarvis III, 19. Jarvis had left the area, and Decoteau was transported to RiverView Health for treatment of minor injuries.

Officers were eventually able to make contact with Jarvis.

Biermaier says it’s an isolated incident and that Decoteau and Jarvis knew each other. There is no public safety concern, he said.
