The Polk County Sheriff’s Office would like to re-inform the area of a scam that continues to be a problem in the area.  This scam that seeks to victimize grandparents pertains to an individual pretending to be a grandson or granddaughter of the caller and asking for money, because they were assaulted/arrested, etc.

If you get a call like this double check with family members to see if this is true or not.

The usual response the PCSO gets from the reporting party is that the caller sounded like their grandson or granddaughter.

There are people in Polk County who have lost thousands of dollars from this scam.

Notify your family members and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, at 281-0431, if you receive a call like this.
