School counselors seek business representatives for February 2019 career day-style event at CHS for high school students and their parents
School counselors at Crookston High School and Fisher School are joining forces in planning a “Northwest MN – World of Work” career-day style of event in February 2019 at CHS, and they’re looking for representatives from a variety of business and career fields to participate.
“This will be an event students and parents can come and hear about the ‘World of Work’ in northwestern Minnesota, as well as hear from businesses about the jobs they have in their businesses and what education levels are needed,” CHS counselor Leah Zimmerman explained in an email to the Times. “As school counselors, we are seeking many changes in the ‘World of Work’ and would like our students in the area to know what the northwestern Minnesota area has to offer and how to get there.”
The event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at CHS from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Interested business representatives are asked to contact Zimmerman by Jan. 5. Send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The goal is to get three business representatives for each panel in the following career fields and pathways: business management and administration; agriculture, food and natural resources; arts, communications and information systems; human services; health science technology; and, engineering, manufacturing and technology.
The “World of Work” event will be geared toward high school students in grades 9-12 and their parents.
Zimmerman is organizing the event along with Fisher School counselor Erin Terpstra.
