On Oct. 24, the 2018 Crookston Chamber Leadership Crookston class participated in an event at the Golden Link. They personalized 57 comfort bears to be distributed to different organizations for them to distribute to children and or individuals in crisis. These organizations include Polk County Social Services and Coordinated Victim Services, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Crookston Police Department, and RiverView Health (for newborn babies).

Patty Dillabough, director at the Golden Link, shared that they also donate to a local veteran’s hospital and their bears are personalized for these individuals by giving the bears a red, white and blue theme.

Crookston’s Walmart donated materials such as stuffing, buttons, etc., and it’s donations like that that keep this program afloat.

These bears provide a sense of comfort to these individuals in crisis. If you want to know more about this project or other events, call Dillabough at 281-3072.

The 2018 theme for Leadership Crookston is “Your Community, Your Leadership, Your Chamber, and Developing the Leader from Within.” The program is designed to enhance awareness of local businesses and help participants build the leadership skills and knowledge, both personally and professionally.
