Partners in Education Award is one of the Chamber’s highest honors

Do you know someone who has went above and beyond for Crookston’s education system? Have they shown loyalty, leadership, commitment, volunteerism, or, perhaps, contributed monetarily?

The Crookston Area Chamber Education Committee invites you to submit your nominations for the 2018 PIE (Partners in Education) Award. Nominations will be accepted from students, colleagues, individuals, groups, or organizations, and must include name, address, references, and statement outlining detailed contributions made by the nominee.

The deadline for nominations is October 31, 2018. The nomination form can be found online at or picked up at the Crookston Area Chamber & Visitor’s Bureau office at 103 South Broadway.

The Education Committee, whose purpose is to foster and promote a better relationship between the business and education communities in Crookston, will evaluate each nomination and select a recipient.

The award will be presented at the Annual Chamber Celebration & Awards Night on November 17, 2018 at the Crookston Inn & Convention Center.

The PIE Award was established in the mid 1980s and is given annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to Crookston’s primary, secondary or higher, public or private educational system. The award will recognize efforts in the areas of: service/volunteerism, loyalty, leadership, monetary contributions, community relations, promotion, commitment, interpersonal relationships, and innovative-ness.

The winner of the PIE Award will receive a trophy designed by former Crookston Central High School art teacher John McMenamy.

The trophy is made of maple wood and consists of three legs on a base, joined at the top by three circles. The base signifies the foundation of strong education and the three legs and circles signify students, educators, and community. These three joined together make a strong community education system.
