It's determined to be accidental in nature
The Crookston Fire Department was called to a house fire on the corner of 4th Avenue South and Erskine Street early Monday morning, and, after about 40 minutes, the fire was considered controlled.
All the home’s occupants, which included children and multiple pets, made it out safely.
The call came in at 4:20 a.m. and over a dozen firefighters and local law enforcement responded.
Crookston firefighter Chris Klawitter told the Times that the fire was ruled accidental and that they are not bringing in the state fire marshal.
“Most of the damage was upstairs with smoke, fire and water damage,” Klawitter explained. “The basement had water damage, but the addition on the north side was completely untouched.”
Klawitter added that the incident has been turned over to the family’s insurance company.
