The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that some cattle are still unaccounted for after a herd was reported running down U.S. Highway 2 east of Fosston and eventually made their way into the city.

If anyone spots any of the cattle, they’re asked to call the PCSO at 281-0431, and they are advised to not approach any cattle they come across.

It started mid-morning Monday when a deputy located the herd of 10 to 14 cattle. Law enforcement and Fosston firefighters attempted to stop the cattle, but they proceeded to run around the east side of the city for more than an hour. Most were later caught and brought back to the owner’s property. The PCSO says Mike Halland owns the herd.
