No injuries reported in either incident
An SUV caught fire Friday night in Fosston and a barn was destroyed by fire a little more than three hours later early Saturday in rural Erskine, but no one was hurt in either incident, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The SUV fire was called in at 9:42 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Granum Avenue and 2nd Street SE in Fosston. The Fosston Fire Department and Essentia Ambulance Service responded. A Polk County deputy was able to extinguish the fire when he arrived at the scene, and firefighters put out any remaining hot spots.
The vehicle, a 2003 GMC Yukon, was driven by Anthony Dickinson, 37, of Bagley.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The call reporting the barn fire came in at 12:36 a.m. Saturday from Section 21 of Knute Township in rural Erskine. Fire departments from Erskine and Mentor responded, along with Essentia Ambulance Service and Wild Rice Electric Cooperative.
The barn was fully engulfed upon firefighters’ arrival and appeared to be a total loss. Remaining hot spots were extinguished.
An investigator from the Minnesota Fire Marshal’s office is looking into the cause of the blaze.
