RLCSO: Biological mother is in prison
A two-month-old infant girl in Red Lake Falls, after being found not breathing Wednesday by a care provider, is on life support at Sanford Health in Fargo, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The baby was first taken to Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls before being airlifted to Fargo.
The RLCSO received the 911 call Wednesday evening from a resident of a Red Lake Falls apartment building. The caller said she needed help because her baby wasn’t breathing, and emergency responders were dispatched. When a deputy arrived, the caller’s neighbor was holding the baby and trying to provide assistance, a RLCSO release states, and the deputy began performing CPR on the infant until paramedics arrived and took over.
There is no indication in the release as to what might have caused the infant to become unresponsive. No one has been arrested and no charges are pending. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.
The RLCSO says the baby’s biological mother is currently incarcerated at the women’s correctional facility in Shakopee. A relative of the mother has been the baby’s primary caregiver since its birth, and they had recently moved to Red Lake Falls.
