Event starts at 5:30 p.m.

The JOYbirds will kick off the second year of their Gratitude Tree in Crookston’s Downtown Square on Thursday, June 14 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Annie Fitzgerald says it’ll be the “second annual gathering to practice gratitude together as a community.”

The JOYbirds are collaborating again this year with the Minneapolis-based The Spread Sunshine Gang.

According to The JOYbirds Facebook page, “joy, happiness, contentedness, all radiate outwards from a core of gratitude. Studies show that we can deliberately cultivate gratitude, and can increase our well-being and happiness by doing so. In addition, gratefulness—and especially expression of it to others—is associated with increased energy, optimism, and empathy.”

The JOYbirds’ mission is to “spread random acts of kindness, joy-filled things, and love-centered gestures through our community of Crookston, while teaching our littles about all of those things in the process. Play dates for kiddos and grown-ups alike.”

The City of Crookston has given The JOYbirds permission to recognize a special tree at Downtown Square as The Gratitude Tree. “If you’re unable to come to this gathering, know that you’ll be able to swing by at anytime as a family, with friends, or on a stop to the Crookston Farmers Market, through the end of August,” Fitzgerald says. “We’re looking forward to watching this tree grow with gratitude.”
