Kiel encourages people to attend

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is holding a public hearing in Thief River Falls regarding the Enbridge Line 3 Pipeline replacement project on Tuesday, Sept. 26. It will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

District 1B State Rep. Deb Kiel, R-Crookston, encourages people to attend and share their input on what Kiel says is an important local project as the PUC decides whether or not to grant the project a certificate of need and route permit.

“The decision on whether or not to replace the Line 3 pipeline will have a direct economic impact on northwest Minnesota, and I encourage rural Minnesota residents to attend the public hearing and share your input,” said Rep. Kiel.

The replacement of the aging pipeline will mean more than $3 billion in private investment, increase the safety of Minnesota's water, and thousands of good-paying jobs along the route, Kiel said in a statement.
