St. Mary’s Catholic School will present the musical “Annie” Nov. 18, 19 and 20. Directed by Geri Pelzel, with Rachel Moldan and Sean Connolly as vocal directors, Gary Sassenberg as choreographer, Callie Bohnen, Gabby Helget, and Abby Johnson as dance captains and Kenzie Hoffmann and Bailey Rutscher as student directors, this musical abounds with fun for the entire family.

Pelzel said, “The extremely talented cast and crew are spending countless hours practicing their lines, rehearsing their songs, perfecting their dances, and building and decorating the outstanding sets in order to create a show that must not be missed.”

Based on the popular comic strip, “Annie” tells the story of a young orphan girl, living in wicked Miss Hannigan’s orphanage with a crew of her spunky fellow orphans. However, Annie truly believes that her real parents are still alive and will one day return for her. Chance allows Annie to spend time in the home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Annie captures his heart along with the hearts of his secretary, Grace Farrell, and the entire household staff, causing Mr. Warbucks to offer to adopt her. Instead, Annie, convinced her real mom and dad are still out there, asks for help to find them. Warbucks' $50,000 reward for Annie's parents attracts the attention of con artists Rooster, Lily and Miss Hannigan, who plot to kidnap Annie and claim the money. Will their evil plan work or will Annie finally find the family she wants?

Filled with popular songs such as “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” “Tomorrow,” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” this musical promises to be delightful entertainment for the entire family, said Pelzel.

“Annie!” will be performed in the St. Mary’s School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. Reserved tickets can be purchased by calling 507-227-1977.

Quoting another song title from the show, Pelzel said, “‘We Got Annie!’ and the directors, cast and crew cannot wait to see you there!”
