Crookston School district has a lot to offer when you look at it. Highland School has a nature center, Green House, Therapy dogs and field trips I wish I had in grade school. At the High School band/choir/orchestra students have a chance to perform at Disney, we have an orchestra class.

First, could you provide a bit of background information, i.e. your age, family, career and educational background, etc.?

I am 37 years old, have 2 daughters Sophia 13 and Samantha 11.  I have been married to Suzanne for 16 years.  Career wise 99-2009 at Cabela’s where I left as the Store Manager, 2009-2015 at G&K Services in Grand Forks as a location manager, 2015-Current owner at Wonderful Life Foods.  Graduated High School in 1997 from Breckenridge and College in 1999 from NDSCS in Wahpeton for Agriculture Sales and Service.

I have 2 kids in the Crookston School system

I feel that I can make a difference and impact in this position.  In my past I have had to handle many sensitive situations none of them easy but they have all taught me a lot of valuable assets.  I like to ask a lot of questions and look at both sides of the parties that are involved.

I feel that this would be an investment for the future.  With both my wife and me being business owners I want to see the school district thrive to help draw in new family’s to the community.

What do you think are Crookston Public Schools’ three main assets?

Great teachers and staff.  Through the years my kids have had many different teachers all with their own strengths and weakness but I have thought they all have done a great job.

Community involvement.  One item that comes to mind right away is Eat United Food Service Program.

On the flip side, what do you see as being Crookston Public Schools’ three biggest challenges or shortcomings?

What we are currently dealing with on a proposed new
    • bus garage
    • field complex
    • gymnasium

In February 2017, school district voters will be asked three facilities-related questions on the ballot. Could you provide your insights and/or opinions on the proposed new bus garage, CHS athletic field/complex, and CHS gymnasium project that also includes concessions, restrooms, locker rooms and a multi-purpose room?

From an outsider’s perspective and from what I have read and heard during the public meeting I am for it.  I am just like everyone else and do not enjoy paying more taxes but think it is needed.  I think this would make Crookston a more of a destination location for sporting activities which will help the school and the community both.  For the Bus garage it sounds like this was need some time ago.  My concern is that we don’t cut to many corners and are in a similar situation years down the road.

Could you list some favorite hobbies or other things you like to do in your spare time?

Anything outdoors; Fishing, Hunting, Camping, Yard work and Gardening.

Do you have any interesting, quirky and/or unique talents, skills, habits or hobbies that maybe only a few in your inner circle are aware of that you’d care to share with readers?

When I have free time I like to watch reruns of the Golden Girls, I don’t even think my inner circle knows that.
