Emily Harrington, 72, of Crookston passed away on April 18, 2022.
Emily Diane (Meyer) Harrington passed away in the comfort of her home after a courageous fight against cancer. She was born November 17, 1949 in Grand Forks, N.D. to Paul and Deloris Meyer. After graduating from St. James High School in 1967, Emily attended the University of Minnesota, Crookston, earning a degree in horticulture. On December 9, 1978 she married Bernard (Bodie) Harrington, and they were blessed with two daughters. Emily enjoyed a long career at the Crookston Area Learning Center and was an active member at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was devoted to her family and friends, industrious and always ready to serve. Emily brought special warmth and magic to holidays through baking and song, and beauty to all seasons through her ability to cultivate any plant or flower. Profound love for her Catholic faith and broad appreciation for spirituality and culture enabled her to be a source of strength and guidance for many people. Emily’s love, sense of humor, determination and humility will remain in the memories of all who knew her.
Emily is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Dan Stephens, and Joan and Anand Badami; grandchildren Tiernan Stephens, and Jacinta and Emiliana Badami; sister Nancy (Diamond) Pipiles, brothers Phillip Meyer and Walter Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 43 years, Bodie Harrington, parents Paul and Deloris Meyer, and brother Joseph Meyer. A Memorial Mass for Emily will be held Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.
