It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

Minnesota Crookston Concludes Trip to Norfolk with Dominant 13-0 Win Over Sioux Falls

NORFOLK, Neb. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team concluded their three-game swing with the University of Sioux Falls at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk, Neb. The Golden Eagles put together 14 hits and had home runs from Josh Dykhoff (Fr., 1B/RHP, Wadena, Minn.) and Mike Hallquist (Jr., 3B, Fargo, N.D.) in the 13-0 victory.

Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Set for 2023 ECAC Championships in Brookings

The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team will compete in the ECAC Championships March 23-25 at DeHaan Equestrian Center in Brookings, S.D. The Golden Eagles are the fifth seed in Dual Discipline. They will open the Championships on Thursday, March 23 against fourth-seed South Dakota State University. University of Tennessee Martin is the top seed, Delaware State University is the second seed, while the University of California Davis is the No. 3 seed.

Minnesota Crookston Baseball Takes Down Golden Bears 12-0 in Series Opener

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team opened their series with Concordia University St. Paul with a 12-0 run-rule victory Saturday, March 25 at Warrior Field at Omaha Westside High School in Omaha, Neb. Jake Dykhoff (R-Sr., RHP, Wadena, Minn.) tied the school record of 14 strikeouts previously set by him on April 10, 2021 against Concordia St. Paul, and Jayden Grover.

Minnesota Crookston Men’s Golf Tied for Sixth after Opening Round at NSIC Preview Invitational

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golf team is in a tie for sixth out of 20 teams at the NSIC Preview Invitational at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. The Golden Eagles shot a 301 to sit in a tie for sixth with Bemidji State University and Fort Hays State University.

Minnesota Crookston Softball Takes Down Southern Connecticut State 2-1 in Additional Florida Tilt

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The University of Minnesota Crookston softball team picked up a 2-1 win over Southern Connecticut State University to cap a nine-game trip to Florida at The Spring Games. The Golden Eagles added the game Wednesday, March 15 against the Owls to make up for games lost earlier in the season.

Minnesota Crookston Soccer Adds to Signing Class

The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team announced the signing of Tessa VanOverbeke (D, 5-6, Hartford, S.D./West Central H.S.) to join the Golden Eagles for the 2023 season. VanOverbeke joins her sister Jada VanOverbeke (So., D, Hartford, S.D.) on the squad. She is the fifth signee for Head Coach Neil Mancktelow, joining Caitlin Bebee (MF, 5-8, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville H.S.), Marsia Green (F, 5-10, Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran H.S.), Madison Lein (D, 5-4, Bismarck, N.D./ Legacy H.S.), and Megan McGraw (F, 5-4, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee H.S.).
