It is with regret that CherryRoad Media announces the closing of The Crookston Times

Our company is dedicated to the preservation of community journalism. Since the purchase of our 1st paper in late-2020 to today, we have prided ourselves on our ability to fight the difficult battle that newspapers face in today’s digital society. Unfortunately, that battle cannot always be won.

The Crookston Times has struggled in recent years to find its footing in this community. Since purchasing The Crookston Times, CherryRoad Media has been unable to avoid financial losses every month. The paper was losing money when we bought it, and it continued to do so. We must now come to terms with the fact that we do not have a path forward to sustainability.

And we thank those who have supported us.

Emma Miller Named NSIC Player of the Week after Wins Over MSU Moorhead and Northern State

University of MInnesota Crookston women’s basketball player Emma Miller (So., Albertville, Minn.) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week after stand-out performances in victories against Minnesota State University Moorhead, and Northern State University.Miller earned NSIC Player of the Week honors last season, this is her first for the 2023-24 slate.

Aguek Deng Makes Huge Plays Down the Stretch and Golden Eagles Hold Wolves to 1-22 from Deep in 71-64 Victory

Minnesota Crookston held Northern State to 1-22 shooting from deep and 45.5 percent from the field to catapult the Golden Eagles to the 71-64 victory over the Wolves on Saturday afternoon.Minnesota Crookston improves to 4-7 (1-5 NSIC).It looked like it would be a solid shooting night for the Wolves, who scored on their first two possessions to take an early 4-0 lead.

Minnesota Crookston Has 23 Student-Athletes Named to 2023 NSIC Fall All-Academic Teams

The University of Minnesota Crookston had 23 student-athletes named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Academic Teams, as announced by the conference office Thursday, November 30.The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced that 830 student-athletes have earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2023 fall athletic season; 520^ student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, while 310^ earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors.
